Jaime reset my blog accounts so I can use again. I have been waiting for grass to grow in the front yard to post a pic of the house and with all the rain this summer, the front yard looks pretty good. The back is going to require some reseeding, Again! It will be the third time. I had it professionally seeded last fall and it did not take. I am going to try Chemlawn this year.

Nana Camp

I had the pleasure of keeping Oscar and Henry W,TH, & Fr this week since Jaime's school started a week before the boys schools open. We had busy days with lots of fun! Movie marathons, bike rides, running through the sprinkler, climbing to the top of the tower at Mill Race Park for a view of Columbus, visits to the park. I asked Oscar if he knew how to set the clock to 1:07 (the current time) and he did perfectly! Double click the slideshow to see a larger version.

A Birthday Visit

Ron came home from the condo work for a couple of days the weekend of his birthday. He had an opportunity to make the rounds visiting family and friends then back to chaos he headed. He was tired!!

Condo furnishings in Milton house

These are the furnishings for the condo that are being stored in the Milton house until move in at Pensacola Beach. Ron did a great job preparing the Milton house for showing and the placement of these furnishings can only help.

Regency Towers January

Things are coming along slowly. Here are some pics from balcony view and of the pool. Ron has been chipping tile for four days.... gets less than a foot an hour accomplished. There is an epoxy under the tile which was laid on top of vinyl flooring that is as hard as rock. He is using a chisel and hammer and it is flying everywhere!! Lastnight he had a piece hit his arm and had blood streaming down his arm and onto his pants before he realized what had happened. I am nagging him because he does not take time to eat and is down to 147 lbs. Cindy is going out to the condo today (at my request) to take him a sandwich and check his arm. He soooo thinks he is Superman!!!!Ron is working hard to get in a position to hook up the toilet and shower to be able to stay at the condo during the rebuild. The drive back and forth to Milton is 45 minutes each way. Condo Update- Still don't know a whole lot. We are supposed to have a 'walk-through' just after the new year, but we were supposed to do that back in October too.

Another Tree Falls

We received word from the realtor that they had a bad storm last week and we lost another tree from the lot in Florida. That makes 36 trees since we bought the lot downed by storms. They have had one showing and two inquires so far. We are told this is the slowest time of year to attempt selling a house. We should not see anything until after the first of the year.

Getting Settled

We had all the carpeting steam cleaned today and are now feeling much better about the rental house. The house is in a great location. (Kelly may disagree, since her dad wakes her up almost every morning to borrow something). She called today and requested we please not call or stop by for 2 hours so she could get some sleep. She worked late and then had PT testing at 7 am had just come home and fallen asleep when we came knocking to borrow the washer and dryer.

I have no idea where anything is at this point including my camera! Ron is going to FL tomorrow to bring back another load. On Monday he will put together my office and I will begin to organize and post some picture updates.

I have my first day meeting my new customers tomorrow and am very excited to get back into the work groove. ( I know..it surprised me too...)

The Insurance Fight Begins

We made our first contents claim of $6800 to cover a sofa,chairs, and area rug. Received payment of $1300! State Farm is saying we have to prove ownership of items before they will pay. We have until the 16th of Sept to settle this or we lose the $33,000 contents coverage. We have to come up with pics we owned the stuff and prove what happened to it. We are on our 10th adjuster and each one starts from scratch. No one passes info to the next. STATE FARM IS NOT A GOOD NEIGHBOR! BEWARE!

Rental House

Had a hard time finding anywhere to live. Columbus thinks it is Carmel IN. Most of the apartments were income capped. Couldn't make more than $29,000 for two. Found corporate apartments $1900 a mnth, one other apartment available in Oct for $1250. We found two houses one for $1250 a mnth one for $1200 a month which you see in pic. Needed to move fast or this would be gone. Had to sign a one year lease. This house happens to be in Kelly's neighborhood. It wasn't advertised. I found out about it through a realtor. I am going to begin move in Sept 16th. The housing market here has crashed! Our house was selling for $305,000 after the hurricane and is now selling for $212,000. There are houses everywhere for sale. Ron and I commented on how much the the traffic has gone down and we think everyone is leaving the area and going back to the north. Jobs are hard to find and low paying. Wish us luck. We have to sell our house before we do anything.

Crushed the Camera

Diana is taking a forced break from updating the blog because she ran over her camera with her car. Jaime is in the process of trying to get her a new one. They did take a trip out to the condo and took some pictures on the camera phone, but no one knows how to get those off without paying a fee to email them to someone.

Update on the condo- the drywall is up. The baseboards are on but not finished. Condo people are thinking Ron and Diane will be able to get in September 1st (but they have also been told they would be in by now)...so no one believes anything the condo people say...

Ron takes a bike ride every weekend and has almost been killed for the second weekend in a row. The first weekend, someone jumped out of a truck and wouldn't let him pass. The latest incident involves a car trying to run him off the road. Good ol' Milton...
